2012 OSFest Independent Film Festival

FAQ
When is the festival?
OSFest V: The Gathering will be held July 27 through 29, 2012, at the Ramanda Plaza, in Omaha Nebraska.

What films are eligible?
Any films which are independent – low budget, those which are not made with the backing of one of the big studios.

Can I suggest a film?
Yes, you can either email your suggestions to films@osfes.org or post a suggestion on the OSFES forum.

Does OSFest pay for screening films?
No. Neither do we charge for admitting a film to the festival. But we do offer a venue where you can publicize your wares at the convention: a table in the convention common area is available for the distribution of publicity material.  If you send it to us, we will see that it is made available.

What is the shipping address for packages?
Mitch Obrecht
11808 Miracle Hills, W7
Omaha NE 68154

What are the screening formats for selected films?
At this time, we can accept films on DVD only.

I have two or more entries and they’re both on one DVD. Do I need to send them as separate entries?
No.

Should publicity kits be sent with submissions?
Not necessary.  A JPG of the film’s poster, if there is one, will work for the program. If  one is unavailable, a still frame from the movie may be used.

What is in it for filmmakers who submit their projects to OSFest?
Exposure. Your film will be seen by the attendees of the fifth Omaha Science Fiction and Fantasy convention.  For independent films, the more people who see them, the better, right?

Science Fiction? Does that mean you only want movies about robots?
Not at all! We are all-inclusive.  Zombies, space stations, quest-style adventures, westerns, period pieces, if it’s independent, that’s what we’re looking for.

Are you accepting feature-length films only?
We’re happy to screen both short and feature-length films.  Due to the time involved setting up, we do ask that films be at least three minutes.  Exceptions may be made for those who are submitting more than one short film.

How can I get more information or contact you?
The best way is to email films@osfes.org.
